Helpful HVAC Tips
Home is where the heart is. It’s also where your family feels the most comfortable, which is why it’s important to have functioning heating and air conditioning. T&M Heating and Air is proud to be a certified Trane dealer because Trane is one of the most reliable names in HVAC equipment.
Here are a few facts you should know about your HVAC unit:
Perform Regular Maintenance
Just like a car requires maintenance, you should have your HVAC unit inspected as well. It is recommended to have your heating and air conditioning units each inspected annually. For your air conditioner, schedule an inspection before summer when you will be using it regularly. Schedule your heating inspection for early fall, before cold temperatures hit hard.
If you have a 2-in-1 unit, inspections are still recommended twice a year: once in spring and again in the fall.
Why It’s Better to Replace Before a Breakdown
If you notice your HVAC unit is a little sluggish, it is better to call a technician right away instead of waiting for the unit to breakdown. A technician may be able to repair the unit quickly and easily if it is a simple problem. If there is a major issue, the technician may need to order special parts or a whole new unit which can take a few days.
If you wait until the unit breaks down, you could be left without an HVAC unit for several days while professionals are waiting for parts or a new HVAC unit to arrive. This can be especially burdensome if the breakdown occurs during the sweltering summer or bitterly cold winter.
Life Expectancy of Your HVAC Unit
How long your Trane HVAC unit will last can vary greatly depending on which unit you purchase. To make sure your unit is protected for as long as possible, it is best to get an extended warranty when purchasing your HVAC unit.
Trane offers a limited manufacturer’s warranty, but we recommend the extended warranty to ensure your unit is covered for a longer amount of time.
Types of Units
If you are installing a new HVAC system, you should know that there many different types of units to choose from. There are many factors to consider when deciding which unit is right for your home, so it is best to consult with your home builder or a T&M professional when determining which type of unit to install in your home.
